  • New Project!

I was looking around at Michael's a few weeks ago and found a new Sugar and Cream yarn -- Stripes! It is so cool. I love the look of it when worked in my dish cloth pattern. Take a look...

The last two don't have their ends tucked in yet. Aren't they pretty colors?!

    On the school front...

We are still wrapping up our school year. Both girls will be working on Math through the summer and by the end of this week should be mostly done with the remaining subjects.

    On the family front...

We are planning a vacation back to Colorado for the first part of July!!! Yea!!! Family reunion with Bill's family and reconnecting with old friends.

    On the business front...

Real Estate is driving Bill crazy, the market is insane. We have started a new business as ACN Representatives. Here is a link to my website if you want to take a look: Margie Murray/ACN It is our plan to build a business that will support our family and allow me to remain at home while Bill is becoming less dependant on Real Estate for our support.

    Happy Summer everyone!

  • Memorial Day Weekend

With a really full and busy schedule these days, it was a real treat to have a relaxing Memorial Day weekend.

My Uncle flew in from Anchorage and his son and family drove over from California. Uncle Dick and Aunt Diana recently purchased their retirement home here in Vegas. This weekend was a work weekend for them, installing light fixtures and ceiling fans to make the house more of a home. Now, it is my job to find renters to care for the place until retirement.

I love reconnecting with my cousins. Dan and Shawna have three very sweet girls. Their oldest is the same age as Mercedes and the girls haven't seen each other for two years...way too long.

Before everyone headed off for home on Monday we all gathered at In 'n Out Burger for a meal.

And Bill and Uncle Dick in a heavy conversation about something:

Sunday evening the girls had a mounted meeting for 4H. It was a perfect night for horseback riding. Mercedes was disappointed that she didn't get a chance to ride this time. Here is Mikayla on Poco: Memorial Day 2009 001

Monday evening I took the girls swimming. They slept well after playing in the water for a couple of hours. I enjoyed just sitting by the pool in the cool evening. It won't be long until our night time temps will be above 90 at this time of the evening so, I had to enjoy the cool breeze while I could.

Today was back to school. I have lessons all planned out for the remainder of the school year. We will work on Math through the summer. Other than that, it is up to the girls when they finish the rest of their studies. I would like to see them finish up before the end of June. But, as I said, it is up to them...

Little PeeWee is doing much better. He is drinking and we are certain that he is no longer dehydrated. He still gets out and runs around the cage in the evenings so while he is slower and sleeps more during the day, I think it is just age and not kidney failure as the vet suspected.

  • Thanks for all of the prayers and concerns. PeeWee has made it through the weekend. He is being spoiled by drinking Gatorade from a syringe and eating high water fruits and veggies. He mostly sleeps all the time but is still sweet as ever when he is awake. I am confident that the dehydration is improving, not sure about the kidney failure.

Saturday was Mikayla's formal. She looked stunning!!!

Unfortunately, the night was a huge disappointment. This formal was with a group that the girls have neither one done a lot with. They thought that since their small group of close friends were going it would be tons of fun, but it didn't work out that way.

Note: If you plan a formal event, teens like fast music and not The Melting Pot for dinner. :(

  • Our sweet PeeWee the hamster is not well. The girls have noticed a funny growth coming from one of his ears a few weeks ago. It is changing, even from when I looked at it a couple of days ago. He is also seeming sluggish. Don't know if the heat is bothering him or it is something else.

We were given PeeWee a bit over a year ago and *think* he will be two this fall. The average life span of a hamster is two to three years if memory serves me right. I pray that he is not nearing his end of life. I know the girls would be very sad.

So, I'm looking for a reasonably priced vet to take a look at PeeWee and get an opinion. PetSmart has vet clinics and there are two near us. One isn't open on Wednesday and the other doesn't have a "hamster vet tech" until Friday. Guess we will pray that the one that is closed today can see him tomorrow.

Tomorrow could be interesting, Bible Study, Mercedes dental appointment and PeeWee at the Vet???
